  • Last Month my excellent German friends visited the"Deutsches- Auswanderer-Haus" in Bremerhaven and advised us about the Emigration Museum.

"It is great. It shows a real illusion of emigrants living on board of sailing and steamships. You can see the life-histories of hundreds of emigrants, documented with fotos and letters. Each station there are telefones, for hearing about exponates. I forgot to ask, hearing in Englisch is possible too. There is one room for family searching. We saw all dates and pictures about your grand-grandfather (that) you inserted in ancestry. You will find all German emigrants worldwide by name. When you come next year, you must visite this Haus"

I couldn't ask for a better recommendation. He advised we should allow about 2 hours minimum to explore the exhibition.

We are looking forward to it before we board Mein Schiff 3 for an afternoon departure.

  • Gibraltar Excursions:

We are in Port 800-1800. Temperatures 20-27 degrees in September, Average rainfall 20 mm over 8 days in September

A review of in Port activities reviews shows in order of rating
    1. Gibraltar Museum (1 review only)
    2.Rock of Gibraltar
    3.St Michaels Cave
    4.Apes Den
    5.Great Siege Tunnels
    6. World War 11 Tunnels
    7. Fortress Gibraltar
    8 City Under Siege Exhibition
    9 City Tour
    10 Dolphin Watch
    11 Alameda Gardens.

In addition a reviewer has the additional points of interest:* Mediterranean Steps (high level of activity)* Moorish Castle* Ocean Village

Most activities listed have entry fees or are part of a tour so I would be interested in what piques the interest of other travelers.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences in Gibraltar on what is great to do, including walking around the old fortress, eateries and sights.

    Kevin

    LG

    Hi @Ruffydog
by accident, I found your question from Jan 12th in your CC thread regarding dresscode. Please check the link above, it is from TUI Cruises. There are no gala nights nor other formal events at all, on "Mein Schiff", you will not need neither a suit nor ties on your cruise in general. You need, of course, for restaurant dining, full-length trousers and closed proper shoes (which mean: no flip flops, no sandals and no shorts or other kind of swim wear in MDR).
Polo-Shirts and good Chinos/neat Jeans are imho appropriate and sufficient. If you consider to visit fine dining in "the Richards", you may would like to dress up with long-sleeve cloth shirts (with or without a tie) and slacks. Hope this helps?

I found in addition this discussion w/ dresscode, maybe helpful?
    Kleiderfrage ....

In case of other general queries, feel free to start a new thread - here https://www.pooldeck24.de/meinschiff-forum/index.php/Board/95-Allgemeines-über-Mein-Schiff/
It seems, CC does not allow to register from non-US areas, my last try last year did not worked out. For sure, you will find much more support in this pooldeck24 forum/board. Kind Regards!

    Hi Dandelion,

Thank you for you response and clarification of my CC question! I appreciate the links and will research a bit further as the cruising date gets closer.

I was waiting to see if I had a response before posting on this forum but you have adequately satisfied my question.

I am surprised that you cannot register on the other site, we are from Australia and we have interacted with a number of different nationalities over time including Germans.

The other site has had an incredible number of reads (3100 readers) but I have not had a direct response from anyone on this particular cruise yet.

    Best wishes

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin (just make sure, you add a @ before the nickname, you are answering to because of making sure the one is getting an automatic info), just like this:
    @Ruffydog you are very welcome.
Sorry for reaching out to you here on this platform. Before the wrong information sits on you and you follow other recommendations, i prefered to answer asap, my only chance. I understood, you are facing to be prepared to pack your things for a >nine weeks trip. And before i mix up the boards, threads, nicknames and will never find your request again, i tried to reach out to you asap, so here we are.
In addition, I am aware about some weird comments on CC board about Germans and German Cruise ships, which make me laugh that hard, i could not resist! (maybe that fun part is one reason, why i am reading CC conversations about Germany from time to time?!)

Just want to make sure you re comfortable as much as possible once you join a German cruise!
So feel free to c+p my comments in your CC thread to spread the right information to more others.

I tried to join a Roll Call w/ HAL last summer via CC, it was impossible to register on. I might be able to attend the standard CC board, but that was not my intention. I can share discussions on sites like this here in Germany. Even i missed the Roll Call for HAL in July 2017 on CC (without comparable options on German boards) i met on board very nice, georgous and funny people i.e. from Brisbane.

But we are close to Off Topic. Again, if you have questions, open a topic here (and train your German :))

Please do not expect that much much of feedback because of limited language skills, but give this crowd a chance, really nice people!

    Vielen Dank.
    Kevin
